"This" CPU cooler? I don't see anything. If it's Intel's stock, just simply turn the tabs on the corner and lift the thing off.

Seems just like you need to lift the metal tabs holding it down on the side.

im not sure for this exact one but in general be careful with it and make sure all screws are out first

Well, oops. But still, from what I can see is you need to gently lift the metal tabs on the sides. Are there screws involved? Unscrew them first.

Set a small satchel charge made up of two parts ground hamster, one part pigeon beak, and one part C4....back away slowly and ignite.  If that does not work, try lifting that shiny but dirty lever.  As it has been said, check for screws or other attachment points before lifting (also unplug your fan).  Once off, throw it far away from you and get to work cleaning your CPU....some obscure element from the periodic table generally will work in situations like this   Good luck little brother......
