If it works fine then why are you trying to update a driver that has no issues. driver revisions are done to fix issues. You have no issues , so why are you updating it.

Battlefront 2 and Just Cause 3 should work perfectly fine on AMD drivers from 17.7.1 and up. I know because I played them. A driver update is only for bug fixes and if you're lucky a small performance improvement. A game would not disallow you from playing just because a new driver was released. Maybe if a driver or hardware was too old to support specific features, but not specifically for a newly released driver update when previous drivers worked on that game before.

17.11.2 has problems. I too experienced blue screens on my own RX 460 4gb. You could try to DDU in safe mode (Google is your friend) and install the new driver again on its own. Do not go from one version to an update in this case. Download and install 17.11.2 ONLY. If that doesn't work, stick to 17.11.1.

Whatever your problem is there's another issue going on here and it's not your driver version.

The RX series is not playing nicely with new drivers. I have read too many cases of THREAD_STUCK_IN_DEVICE_DRIVER BSoDs, and I am (or used to be at least) a victim as well, unfortunately.

I used DDU several times to try to fix the issue but never helped.

The only solution I found was a Windows reinstallation (even though it happened once since I did, but before it was happening daily).

I can’t believe that there are so many faulty cards out there that cause this BSoD. I’m fairly positive that the issue lies on the software side of things. Stick with 17.7.1, it’s the most stable latest driver.

My RX 460 is successfully running 17.11.2 without issue. However I didnt bother with installing Radeon Crimson Software on my last attempt. I just let the extraction process run and manually installed the driver alone through Device Manager.

Could be Crimson Software itself? I'm running the new driver with the old Crimson binaries and it's been fine for me so far. No improvements in performance or stability and I dont play any of the games the bug fixes claim to resolve, so not much point to it honestly.

I understand where OP is coming from though. Always nice to stay up to date. Crimson actually recommends the stable driver is 17.11.1. can't argue as I'm not having difficulties, like I said, but can't really say I agree. 17.7 was solid
