I7-4820K?

Hey, I found a I7-4820k for £75 and a LGA 2011 Mobo for £86 is it worth upgrading from my i5-4570 with my gtx 960? im planning to upgrade that to a 390 or fury is that worth it to keep for a year or 2 whilst i go to collage and play some older games such as CS:GO And Gta V and Some Emulation

Keep what you got if you off to college. if anything uses all that budget and upgrade to the best GPU you can. the CPU isn't ideal but with college time and all the rest, it'll see you buy happily. Upgrade later with competition back in the market its only going to get better over the coming years for us as consumers. GPU's, however, we are far off from top-level competition there.

because i have a budget of 300 and my brothers selling one for 250 and i got told that's best card for 250 but i dont really know much about AMD cards

Just my 5 cents, considering you're going to keep your PC for the next few years, why not go for a evga GTX 1060 6GB or a Sapphire RX580 8GB nitro+? Sure, they have a slightly lower performance, but the GTX 1060 will have a 3 year warranty, while you can also do mining on the RX 580 and earn some of the money back ... my RX 580 has been mining for the past 6-7 months and i've already got back 400€ from the 350€ i spent.

Well i will see if i can get any on offer and i will maybe get one and a quick question, Whats the impact on power bills? as im 15 i live at home still and i dont want to drive my family bills too high

The Fury X is a powermonster though, it uses up to 400W when under full load, while the RX 580 nitro+ uses less than 250W. considering you will probably not be mining 24/7, it will be hardly noticable.

Fury / X can undervolt like champions making them actually effectively more efficient than Maxwell GPU's.

By doing that, you're slightly decreasing the framerate when gaming, and at that point, it's and identical card to the GTX 1060 or RX580, while they will both still be under warranty.

Voltage does not decrease performance, just lowers temps and power consumption.

 

By all means an RX 580 does not come close to a Fury at full whack, the only leg up is 4 more GB's of Vram which at 1080P is a non issue just yet.

My bad, it doesn't decrease performance as long as you're careful with the voltage lowering.

The Fury pulls ahead with it's much more muscular memory bandwidth and GPU depending on the game thrown at it.

 

 

 

Games that love clock speed, Fury can OC though it's not recommended, i did gain 12FPS going from 1050 to 1150mhz on my R9 Fury from Sapphire, but the power consumption does increase substantially as you increase voltage, that Fury was ahead of a stock 1070 in Dues Ex in DX12 with the OC, and just under it at stock.

in the uk a used 980ti can be found for 250, similar performance and uses less power

1060 6GB if you can get it for 250, if not the Fury is faster than both the 3GB and 6GB version but consumes more power.
