Asking if anyone knows of a decent pc for under £300 that can run minecraft at a decent FPS rate and if this one is good and what upgrades to put on it. https://microdream.co.uk/gaming-pc-dell-tower-core-2-duo-geforce-1gb-hdmi-dvi-windows-10-computer.html?gclid=EAIaIQobChMIrMmZ7Nzf1wIV77ftCh3n5ARrEAQYCCABEgLnpvD_BwE#.WhyHQ6anyhA

I would not trust this site

Quotes:

  • "Memory upgrade (Improve the speed of your PC)" - it doesn't.
  • "Monitor (Option)" - I mean I think they meant to put optional.
  • "GeForce 1GB " - that's a brand, not an actual card.
  • "add Power Lead" - if you don't check this you don't get a power lead it seems.

The list goes on

Please do not buy the first one you linked. That is an absurdly stupid price for a system that won't run anything very well (as far as gaming goes). Those computers can be had for free these days because they're 7-9 years old (I know because I have several).

I also wouldn't get that system either. It's got an A4 with no dedicated GPU. It won't do you too well. Can you stretch your budget at all? If so, you can get a system that's a whole lot better.

Main System: Phobos

AMD Ryzen 7 2700 (8C/16T), ASRock B450 Steel Legend, 16GB G.SKILL Aegis DDR4 3000MHz, AMD Radeon RX 570 4GB (XFX), 960GB Crucial M500, 2TB Seagate BarraCuda, Windows 10 Pro for Workstations/macOS Catalina

Secondary System: York

Intel Core i7-2600 (4C/8T), ASUS P8Z68-V/GEN3, 16GB GEIL Enhance Corsa DDR3 1600MHz, Zotac GeForce GTX 550 Ti 1GB, 240GB ADATA Ultimate SU650, Windows 10 Pro for Workstations

Older File Server: Yet to be named

Intel Pentium 4 HT (1C/2T), Intel D865GBF, 3GB DDR 400MHz, ATI Radeon HD 4650 1GB (HIS), 80GB WD Caviar, 320GB Hitachi Deskstar, Windows XP Pro SP3, Windows Server 2003 R2

Even something like this would perform better than the PC's you linked: https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/JjF7f8 (I'm not great at low budget builds so this probably isn't the best for under £300 but it's definitely better than what you linked)

Do you already have any parts you can reuse (PSU, HDD, etc.)?

I don’t think that matters much if you have this little to spend. If you don’t use texture packs, it should run fine.

That's great, but i5 sandy bridge systems go for upwards of €150 and pounds still here in Europe, so with a monitor and peripherals included, it's not a bad starter kit.

The problem with a 300 quid budget is that you can't build something that's faster. Certainly not new.

It's an okay base system. That GPU is way overpriced, though. The GT1030 is faster and cheaper.

Here is what I'd get if I were you, ask your parents for an extra tenner and you'll have a great starting point. Faster CPU, upgrade for RAM in the future, less shit hard disk.
