Best Display for around £200/300$

AxwellMix

I will probably crossfire my current card by the end of next year. So I can upgrade, but not any time soon. I don't think future proofing would be a good idea.

Would also be a waste of quite a bit of money if he doesnt plan on upgrading GPUs soon.

Not really. Productivity using applications will co up due to the extra space. It is OP's decisions though.

The third person suggesting 2560x1440. He has a 7870. It cant handle it. He is better off with 1080p

for simple photo editing and light gaming? sure it can. and with prices eventually dropping (after LTCRush) then he can xfire to game.

Or buy a Korean monitor and a X-rite calibrator. Just saying. For professional print work, the Dell would still be better though.

that still is almost the same price as a Dell monitor

But then you have a calibrator for future monitors and other devices.

What happens if the Korean monitor has some bad backlight bleed? Pretty common on IPS/PLS displays these days

There is the Pixel Perfect versions which are manually inspected. Dells are at risks too.

The 7870 is a great card for the price, and great for 1080p. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824236288&nm_mc=AFC-C8Junction&cm_mmc=AFC-C8Junction-_-na-_-na-_-na&cm_sp=&AID=10446076&PID=3938566&SID= I would grab this, asus, matte, IPS, 5ms response time. In my opinion it is the king of 1920x1080 under $200 :P

Dell also has some really good ones.

Doesn't it say on the post that it's 7870 le meaning that it has a chopped down Tahiti (7950/7970) core

That was added after the fact. And yes it uses the same GPU. That doesnt mean a 7870 = 7970. If it did they would be in the same price range. Or one of them wouldnt exist. A 7870 cannot handle 2560x1440

Comparing them is like comparing a 680 to a gtx 660. An almost exact comparison for the green team side.

I never said that. And actually it almost equals a 7950 in most games. You Can't say that a 7870 won't handle 2.5k when it's not a f*cking 7870. This doesn't mean that his card could handle it, not going to say that BC I don't know. But it's not a 7870

OH! I never went back to the original post since it was added there, I never saw that it was a 7870 LE my bad, that was added to the post after I last saw it. Yeah thats one awesome card, honestly I think they should have named it 7930 tbh

Yah, adding two letters that make it an entirely different card can be confusing :P 7930 would sound better, wasn't there a 6930 or 5930?

I actually put the tahiti LE on the original post I made, but you failed to notice that. So some sort of Dell 1080p monitor? ;)

This is the VA panel which i use ironically with the same gpu and i also do editing, its a VA panel so its slightly worse then IPS but its not a massive problem.

Then there is the dell monitor, its slightly over your budget, but it has one of the best colour pallets in the world.

Those are my recommendations, my father uses the dell ultrasharp and i use the benq, no doubt the dell has a better picture but i prefer a bigger screen and honestly unless they are next to eachother you will not notice the difference.

Thanks a lot man, exatly what I was looking for, it also has the ports I need. I will probably be buying the 27" as I also prefer the bigger picture. Do high end games look great on the benq monitor?
