Intel 4600 bios display

Go to solution Solved by Tabs,

You could try a DVI-HDMI adapter? It's possible your ultrawide 3440x1440 monitor is expecting a hdmi 1.4a+ signal from the port on the motherboard, but intel 4600 series IGP can't produce that.

I literally have no idea if a dvi to hdmi adapter will work, but I see it as something worth trying if you have one lying around.

One thing to consider is that your monitor is way beyond the resolution that the intel IGP can actually produce - it maxes at 2560x1440 so even if it worked properly you'd be unable to fully utilise your display.

What operating system are you trying to install? Are you trying to hackintosh? Nvidia now has their own driver packages for osx, so anything Maxwell and up (900+) should work properly.

Edit: It could also be a scaling issue? After you get into he bios and see only a blue screen, try tweaking your monitors OSD options for scaling in case it's simply displaying the wrong dimensions on the display. Myself and my partner both have LG panels - mine is a 27" 4k panel, he has a 34" 3440x1440 ultra wide, and both have had problems displaying sources correctly through HDMI (from digital tv boxes, games consoles, etc).

Hey guys,

I’m attempting to load another operating system, so I disabled my gtx 1070 graphics card to avoid any potential conflicts and am currently utilizing my onboard 4600 intel graphics... when I attempt to enter the bios via intel 4600/HDMI I’m greeted with a blank blue screen.

However there is no issue displaying the bios via display port/gtx 1070, under the bios the first display device has been set to integrated graphics to attempt to resolve the problem.

I have used the integrated graphics on intel chipsets so rarely I’m unfamiliar with what is actually causing this issue.

Complete system specifications are in my profile.

I have a cue light I can use to show you when I’m joking, if you like.

Initially I just unpowered the 1070 and attempted it, since I have removed the card from the system all together to attempt with the same results.

I might have an adapter laying around, I’ll have to dig around to see.

My only idea apart from the the suggestions @Tabs provided is to wipe the hard drive to force legacy bios, assuming it may be a uefi issue.

Edit:

It was directly related my my LG ultra wide, I dug out one my old dvi monitors and the bios displayed correctly.

I guess I have a few options now, keep digging around in boxes for or buy an hdmi/dvi adapter, dig out and install an one of my older gtx cards, or attempt the drive wipe/legacy bios theory.

Thank you for all the suggestions offered :)
