Hi Team,

I went to sort my folders today and found this (see attached).

Besides the 10 documents and 2 folders I moved, everything else in the documents folder is folders created by programs and I find this frustrating.

I'm very particular about Documents being in Documents, Downloads being transition, Music for Music, etc. How do you manage this, do you have another folder for actual documents, or let them mingle with the non-documents?

Thanks,

Kurt

The thing is that Microsoft things something else than text documents, spread sheets and so on when they talk about Documents folder. In fact it should have remained with name "Documents and Settings" like it was in XP and Vista. Just do as I do. Create your own folder for text documents and make that the library folder. Then add another link to original Documents folder in favorites. Like mine in pic (names are in Finnish):

In favorites I have:

  • Desktop
  • Desktop v2 (aka bin of stuff moved from desktop and needs some sorting)
  • GIS (for shapefiles and other material)
  • Dowloads
  • Konsta (aka Documents folder under Users)
  • Oma (another bin of misc stuff but on HDD)
  • Sync (folder where I moved stuff to be synced with laptop)

Libraries (all of these are on HDD and as own folders, not under Users):

  • Pictures
  • Music
  • Text documents etc.
  • Videos

Awesome, thank you.

Is there a guide on changing where the library points to?

Just right click on library you want to edit. It lists all folders included. You can remove and add what ever and how many you like. I used to have 2 video folders for example. Another way is to select folder, right click and select "Add to Library" from menu.
