My friend asked me to take a look on his laptop because suddenly it takes alot of time to turn on and it  stopped starting up windows and it shows pc cant start up correctly and I have either automatic repair which takes me to the same screen.

second choice I have is other options which I clicked on and it shows

1. continue with windows which doesn't bring anything

2."problem-treatment" or whatever it's called (the laptop is in german)

3. Turn of PC
So i clicked on the second option and it shows 2 more options
1.reset to default
2. more options..
So the options are :
1.system recovery
2."systemimage recovery
3.Command prompt

4.start setting

My Idea was to to rest PC to defult in delete apps but leave personal data
Is this my best choice?
Because I believe that the HDD is busted.
Suggestions ?
