I prefer the aesthetics of Corsair RAM personally. Although the G.Skill isn't bad. I think it's just a matter of which one you personally like more to be honest.

Better performance per dollar is what I'm worried about

The final list is nearly complete, all that is required is approval/ suggestions from more experienced builders. My budget is $2000 to $2500 dollars. I do not plan on playing any games until I get the graphics card.

My theme is Black and any other colour (but mostly blue).

Here's my list:

CPU: Intel Core i7 7700k (It's on discount and it's currently cheaper than the Intel Core i7 6700k)

Motherboard: Conflict, either the MSI Z170A Gaming M3, MSI Z170A Gaming M7, or the MSI Z270 Gaming M7. (I think I would get the Z270 because of the colour options.)

CPU Cooler: NZXT Kraken X62.

RAM Memory: Conflict, either the Corsair Vengence RGB 16Gb or the G.Skill Trident Z RGB 16Gb.

Storage: Crucial MX300 275Gb SSD

Case: Corsair Crystal 570x

Power supply: Unknown but I know someone to help me with that.

Graphics Card: Conflict, either the Nvidia GTX 1080Ti or the GeForce GTX 1080 Ti Lightning Z.

Pretty sure you need Z270 for Kaby Lake to work.

I've heard about a lot of pump failures on the Kraken X62, but it seems to be a hit or miss type thing.

I like Corsair memory over pretty much all the other options, I'd recommend the Vengeance RGB.

No HDD, or do you have one that you can reuse?

Great case choice

Get the Lightning Z, it looks a lot better

I thought about getting the other RAM type because of the Graphics card. But The HDD is the last thing I'm worried about.

Ah yeah fair point. You should be able to pick up a 1 or 2Tb Seagate or WD drive for pretty cheap right about now

Blue or black HDD. I know there are performance differences.

Blue is cheaper and more of a "mainstream" drive I guess, it's pretty versatile; kind of an all-around type drive. Black is maximum performance

So based on the RAM decision, should I still go with the Corsair ram or the G.Skill.
