Ok I have the standard Verizon fios router and all ports are full now my son will be getting a PS4 soon and eventually his PC when he finishes building it and wants to be wired in his room which is about 100 ft away from where the router is would a network switch be the right step in adding more ports? Any and all suggestions welcomed.

Try looking up powerline Ethernet adapters instead to save a lot of hassle firstly :)

You'll still need some cheap boggo little switch to give you more ports for the router anyway though so might as well get that bought.

Probably gaming or helping technophobes with tech...

I would not, it's only 100Meg and a gigabit switch can be had for just as much.

Yeah but its unlikely hes running gigabit

Umm, fairly basic routers have been Gigabit for a long time now, as have computers. It's not worth buying something that has a limit of 12MB/s. That ridiculous.

Main System: Phobos

AMD Ryzen 7 2700 (8C/16T), ASRock B450 Steel Legend, 16GB G.SKILL Aegis DDR4 3000MHz, AMD Radeon RX 570 4GB (XFX), 960GB Crucial M500, 2TB Seagate BarraCuda, Windows 10 Pro for Workstations/macOS Catalina

Secondary System: York

Intel Core i7-2600 (4C/8T), ASUS P8Z68-V/GEN3, 16GB GEIL Enhance Corsa DDR3 1600MHz, Zotac GeForce GTX 550 Ti 1GB, 240GB ADATA Ultimate SU650, Windows 10 Pro for Workstations

Older File Server: Yet to be named

Intel Pentium 4 HT (1C/2T), Intel D865GBF, 3GB DDR 400MHz, ATI Radeon HD 4650 1GB (HIS), 80GB WD Caviar, 320GB Hitachi Deskstar, Windows XP Pro SP3, Windows Server 2003 R2

Lol, if your running 100mbps now days then you need to cry xD

I'm going to put a link to my PC specs which actually aren't my PC specs and I cry myself to sleep everyday so I can have these PC specs but I can't afford these PC specs so PC specs PC specs PC specs PC specs PC specs PC specs.
