Did you by any chance install any new ram? The last time I installed a stick of ram my os setted my pagefile size to a ridiculous amount making my hdd fill itself up down to a few kilobytes. Like you I could retrieve the space with a restart. Once I reset the pagefile size limit back to a normal size my hdd stopped filling itself up.

reinstall time

No.

You first need to determine why so much of your disk is occupied. Otherwise you may end up in a worse position.

Have you run disk clean up and does it report a large number of temporary or deleted files?

Have you explored the drive to see what is occupying so much space?

Have you checked the size of the swap and, if you have one the hibernation file?

80+ ratings certify electrical efficiency. Not quality.
