I have been planning on building a new PC for quite a while now, and am just now getting to it. I want a fairly high end gaming PC, without spending an exorbitant amount. I am looking to spend around $1500 max, preferably a little less on the PC so I can get a nice monitor to go with it. But anyways, this is the parts list I have so far

PC Part Picker Link

CPU - Intel Core i7-7700K 4.2 GHz

CPU Cooler - Cryorig H7

Motherboard - Asus Prime Z270-A

RAM - G.Skill Trident Z RGB 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4-3200

HDD - WD Blue 1TB

GPU - Asus ROG STRIX 1080 A8G Gaming

PSU - Thermaltake Smart Pro RGB 650W 80+ Bronze Fully-Modular

Case - Fractal Design Meshify C (I really want the InWin 805 Infinity, but I don't want to spend $250 on a case)

This is all ending up at $1322.82 after mail in rebates and with Windows 10 Home.

Another question I have is I already have a 2.5" hard drive in my laptop that I would like to use in my PC once I build it, and it already has Windows 10 on it, would I just be able to move the hard drive straight over and not have to buy Windows 10 again?

Change the motherboard to the cheaper and better Asrock Extreme4, the RAM to a faster kit, the SSD to the SL308, the GPU to the Strix version, and the case to a better one with TG. That would make it about right

:)

An 8700k is better.

I believe you can...

I know that an 8600k would be better than the 7700k, but with the deals on the 7700k and motherboard combo it is almost $100 more to get the 8600k, if I can for sure just use the windows that I already have then I wouldn't even hesitate, but if I need to buy Windows 10 again, is it really worth it?
