So I have a old MSI 7870 hawk and I was looking around for deals on new cards, unfortunately everything better is kind of out of my price range (college student, have no money ?) but I was thinking about buying a few decent fans and using those instead of the old stock fans that sound like a huricane.

I know Linus did a video on this a while back but what's you opinion? Will replacing the fans make a difference? Right now my card runs at 85C under load after cleaning and new thermal past. The only thing keeping me from OC it more is the temp so if I can get that down I can turn up the OC.

in the old days the gpu didn't overclock depending on temperature. If you manage to get the card cooler you could of course sqeeze some more Hertzes out of the gpu. The problem is that a blower style card is typically hard to mod in that way. Linus already had an open air card and just put two noctua fans on it... So generally probably not very effective to do a mod on that card...

if you take nocuta nf f12 fans the temps might go down a bit and it will be quieter, but not worth the 50 bucks i would say.

ya spending $50 on a old card is probably not the best option xD Guess I will just wait until I have the money to upgrade my system.
