Is the server running active directory (either a member or a domain controller) and does it have a live network connection when booting?

 

I've experienced this problem with domain controllers; they wait a hell of a long time to get AD credentials on startup.

 

If it isn't running AD or a member of a domain, try hard reset like @MSWindowsinside, and try starting it up with the network adapter disconnected. You can re-enable it after startup if this helps.

I have Windows 2012 running as a VM (Workstation) I restarted it by accident and now it is stuck on please wait for the past 20 minutes. 

 

What shall I do?

Hard reset the VM to see if it starts working again?
