Low Priced 7740x (UK)

Hi There,

 

I've just noticed a cheap 7740x on the OverclockersUK website here (£188.99 or $250) however I'm aware that motherboards for X299 are still pretty expensive.

 

The 7700k sells for around £278 ($367 US) here in the UK on Amazon. 

 

Basically is it worth buying the 7740x and paying extra for a X299 motherboard or should I go with a 7700k or an i5 and stick to 1151 motherboards.

Well, it would cost the same, since X299 motherboards generally cost ~£100 more than Z270 motherboards. X299 would give you an upgrade path. 

Depending on what you do, Coffee might be a better choice than both, but with less of an upgrade path than X299

Thanks for your response :). I think I'll wait and see what black friday/ cyber monday holds.
