1050ti Overclock

Hello,

I started to overclock my GTX 1050 TI from evga and i wondered how far it could go given the fact that it uses no external connector (takes power from the motherboard). Would there be any danger of going higher.

PCIe 3.0 can go up to 300W, so I believe if you just keep the power draw at load under that, you'll be just fine.

Try converting volts to watts, and change your voltage settings so that power draw doesn't go past 300W? Theoretically, that would work. I'm not aware of any way to monitor power draw via PCIe slot

BS. PCIe slots can only give 75W. That's why cards with TDP higher than 75W all use PCIe power connectors. If it could give more than that then RX 480's issue wont be there.

 

There's no harm. If it doesnt crash then it's good (assuming you dont flash the vBIOS)

Really? I found an article on Tom's Hardware that said 300W.

So the moetherboard would poweroff before it fries the mobo.

No. That's how early revisions of RX 480 managed to damage motherboards of reviewers. Nvidia has a tight power draw control though so dont worry.

So how high did you manage to get the clocks up to? Someone gifted me the same card and I figured it couldn't go much further without external power

I cant quite remember as i took it back down afterwards, i think it was about 1974, but i didnt want to keep pushing it just in case. I think i could get it higher with a good motherboard.
