Hi all

I game at 1080p with a 144hz monitor.

So I just got a GTX 1070 and am looking to upgrade my CPU possibly to a 7600k and also my motherboard as my old 4460 seems to be holding it back.

Would you recommend the 7600k still, I see Coffee Lake just came out and also wondered if the 8600k would be worth the extra £50?

What is the best price to performance motherboard for the CPU at the moment? Also what CPU fan would you recommend, still the 212 Evo?

Thanks

No, the 7600K is not really an upgrade. Yes, you will get a few more FPS, but it's honestly not worth the $250.

If you want to upgrade, get an 8400 or 8600K (with a Z370 board) or a Ryzen 5 1600 (with a B350 board). If don't mind buying used parts, just get a used 4790(K) or 4770(K).

@Pearsonia Let me rephrase what I was saying. No 4 Core/4 Thread CPU is really an upgrade, because newer games can use more than 4T. This is why I recommend getting a used 4790(K) or 4770(K). :D

Oh really, not much of an fps/ drop reduction, gain then?

What about a used 4690k?

Then in a couple years I can upgrade to DDR4 etc.
