Help maybe malware?

Ok so i was on redit yesterday, and clicked a link not knowing what is was, it took me to a porn site, or at least a site with porn, i exited the second i found out what is was. (cant remember site) Now im just wondering was this enough to get my pc infected with any sort of malware. i scaned my pc using MSE nothing came up.

if you don't notice anything strange and the scan picked up nothing, no.

nothing to worry about .. you shouldn't be so skeptic, it usually takes more than that go get any malware or generally anything harmfull.

nothing to worry about .. you shouldn't be so skeptic, it usually takes more than that go get any malicious malware.

Yeah, it's very, very unlikely that simply visiting the site would give you any sort of virus. They're usually contracted through installing an infected program.

ok its just ive never been hit by a virus and i dont want to start becouse of my stupifity ok clicking before i check

as zember said, you usually get it through downloading something infected, usually called a trojan virus, there is the chance of being struck through adds aswell but that usually isn't anything harmfull or agressive, it normally takes a pretty big screw up to contract anything harmfull.

 

i can relate to wanting to keep your new pc as clean as possible :).

 

Edit: well yes, i guess it would be more accurate to say install rather than download :P.

Just want to clarify, simply downloading a file without installing it won't give you a virus, as far as I know. It's when you install it that it can definitely be a problem.

I like to use this freeware program called Sandboxie http://www.sandboxie.com/, it allows you to run your browser and other programs in an isolated program that makes it even harder for malware and viruses from getting direct access to your os.
