Mini Displayport to Displayport 144hz??

Hey i have a asus gamer laptop with a mini displayport so i thought that i would buy a 144hz monitor but can a mini displayport push 120-144hz ? it´s a Asus ROG GL502VM-FY211T

Mini DP and DisplayPort differ only in the connector size. It should work just like a regular size DP.

Should work fine, the connector is physically smaller but the specs are exactly the same.
