The coax cabling is pretty old at our house, which is what I am fixing.

There is a coax splitter (there are others too but that doesnt matter right now) which has only 1 cable out, so actually it is only a extension, although it has 3 outputs (so 2 is empty).

The question is: Is it losing signal? If you may not understand, I mean this : PICTURE. Will the outcome be "1" or "1/3" ? The dBs are not matter rn.

It depends on the splitter, but there's a very good chance it's deteriorating the signal.

Does not work quite that way. With coax each element will introduce some loss. Be it a splitter of connector.

In this case each output will have a 3,5db loss. You will want to cap the 2 outputs not used to prevent extra noise.

But what do you mean by losing signal? just the power or quality?
