This has been going on for a while, I've done a fair bit of troubleshooting, but I haven't found the source of the error.

Basically, every 3 hours or so, my computer just turns off, no freezing or crashing or blue screen or anything. Sometimes I get FPS drops before this happens, sometimes I don't. One of the times I noticed that the lights on my cooler (Cooler Master Nepton 240M) had turned off a few seconds before my computer cut out.

So far, I've tried completely erasing everything on my SSD and reinstalling Windows, to no avail. I've also run memtest, no errors there. Finally, I installed SanDisk's SSD Dashboard, which reports 100% "life remaining" and my SSD is 28 degrees celcius.

I have no clue how to go about troubleshooting, although I think the error might be with my cooler. I'm willing to try anything to troubleshoot, thanks in advance.

It could be the cooler not being powered correctly, then the is CPU overheating too much so turns off before it kills its self. The PSU may be overwhelmed. Can you see how much wattage your PC is using a meter? If this is your PC https://pcpartpicker.com/list/TsBmYr then the PSU is not the issue even under full wattage.

How long have you had the computer?

2/3 years, however the motherboard is under a year old (old one died on me)

Yeah, that's basically my build. I don't think it's overheating though since I've been into the BIOS seconds after it's shut off and my CPU has been at like 40 degrees Celsius, unless I have a faulty temperature measuring thing. I'll see if I can get a hold on a wattage meter today.

I decided to take out my GPU (gtx 980) and just use my iGPU for today. Although I had to run games at very low settings and resolution, I haven't had a crash today, at all. I'll reinstall my GPU tomorrow, after blowing compressed air through it, then I'll use DDU and reinstall drivers (even though I only installed them yesterday).

Everything's been fine for the last 9 days, however, today when I started PUBG, it happened again. I've also been noticing that my FPS is lower than it should be in quite a few games (e.g. 100fps lower in CSGO, barely 50 on PUBG @ low settings). I've kept an eye on temps, everything seems fine, usually have like 75 on the GPU and 50 on the CPU (under load). It's gotta either be the GPU or PSU, hasn't it? What tests can I perform to further identify the problem?
