When I try and use the BIOS on my motherboard I can move the mouse and keyboard for about 5 seconds and then everything locks up. I can't move the mouse or select things with the keyboard. The displayed time and system info is even frozen.

Motherboard: ASUS Maximus VIII Gene

Processor: i7-6700k

Memory: Corsair LPX DDR4-3000 (2x8Gb)

I have tried disconnecting every unnecessary peripheral, using only one stick of memory and trying it in every slot for both sticks, used a different keyboard and mouse, disconnected all HDDs and SSDs, and removed my video card and used the onboard graphics.

I'm so lost on what could possibly be the problem...

Motherboard. RMA it as I don't see any possible way you could flash it.

GPU: Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1070

MOBO: ASUS Z370-F STRIX

RAM: 16GB Corsair Vengeance DDR4 2133MHz

Just something to start with, how old is the mobo?  Have you attempted upgrading the BIOS recently?  How about the battery on the mobo?  Is it old?  That battery saves the settings for your BIOS so if it goes bad, then your BIOS won't save any changes to the settings that you might make.

The motherboard is brand new. I had to buy it because I bricked my last one trying to flash the BIOS because of the same problem.
