My cousin lives in a nursing home he is only 31 but has medical issues that made it so that he cant live on his own and his mother can't support him on her own due to time and finances.  Due to his medical issues he has been told since he was 12 that he wouldn't live past X years (originally 16 then 18 then well now hes 31)  but his health is degrading and he can no longer use his phone as easily as he used to.  He was wanting a tablet so that he can still use Facebook and watch video's as there isn't much for him to do entertainment wise on the days that no one is able to visit with him.  But he now wants a lap top.  My family and I (mostly all of his cousins) are trying to pull together enough money to get him a lap top (and no I'm not going to ask you for help with the money aspect of the situation).

What we need help with is picking the right product for the price point that we can reach.  We would prefer new as he doesn't' get many new things.  but i am worried with his history of dropping stuff due to loss of motor skills that he will drop the lap top from his wheelchair and then he will be out of the gift and the access it would provide.  Our budget is almost non existent as his mother is doing good taking care of his physical needs financially and has little else to spare.  were hoping to find a solution for under $500 USD shipped.  His online usage is WWE Network streaming, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and YouTube.  I have looked at chrome books but they seem to have an issue with the WWE network which is his primary passion in entertainment.

So with all of that in mind is there any way you guys/gals could give me a list of options that would work for him both in his needs as well as general price points?  I have some computer knowledge and honestly its not enough to tackle this on my own and the family is not computer literate.

I would've said too, but sadly they have an issue with WWE so it's probably going to be an Acer with an AMD APU if anything at all.

Hi

One thing you could look into. Since he will use the laptop mostly for entertainment.  You could try Google Home. with a TV, and ChromeCast.

Google Home is voice activated. So voice command.Ex: Hey Google what is weather in London UK. Hey Google play ......( insert music here )...The music is from a account ( google music ) or music on phone or tablet Or the next thing --Hey Google play Movie Batman on Chromecast

You can also use Google Home to make phone call. So no need to dial. Just tell --Hey Google Phone Jack.

Chromecast will play Netflix and  FaceBook video is also available, not sure about FaceBook pages

I am not sure you can use Chrome via Google Home and ChromeCast. This one thing to investigate

You will need and app from Google, that is -Google Home-- It can be done on a Android device or IOS,  If he as an Android phone that would be perfect. This is for the setup.

You can add a low cost tablet for using chrome or reading a book. Or listening to music in bed.

Black Friday Sales are coming. No shipping involved just go to local Walmart make sure to phone before going, not all store have Google Home.

Cost From Walmart web site

TV --Samsung 28 inch around 190.00$us at Walmart

(Not needed if he as one. You need a TV with USB and HDMI ports )

Google Home --129.00$us at Walmart

Chrome Cast -- 35.00$us at Walmart

Samsung 8 inch Tablet -- 117.00$ at Walmart

Internet connection + WIFI

Total cost --- 471.00$ us plus Tax

Total cost no TV --281.00$ us plus Tax

Setup video

There several YouTube on how to set up Google Home

thank you all for the reply's.  ill be comparing the laptops offered as suggestions and getting with the family to go over what all we can afford for him.  thank you also for the google home idea but i failed to say that he has a hard time verbally communicating so it would likely not work but none the less a cool idea that might help some one who comes across this thread with different issues.
