So I have a GTX 1060 as my main card, and i want to install a Quadro FX 5800 as a secondary card, and also use it as a Phyx card in games. But when i boot into windows after i install it into a lower PCI-E slot than the 1060, the two simply conflicts with each other even after installing the driver for the quadro. And also Nvidia control panel does not open no matter what because of the anniversary update. any help? I have done this thing before, and it worked, but now it does not and i don't know what to do.

PhysX? if it is that then it really doesn't matter at all. it doesn't change anything you your performance (you could even use your CPU to run it). that's also why it was released as a standalone thing. you don't need an nvidia card to run it and it's essentially a small addon to any API.

there's no point putting loads of effort worrying about it trying to fix it just for that

It's been a long time since I use physx but from what I remember, once you use a card for physx you can't use that one to also drive a monitor right?

that's why i was specific about if only for physx. try going to C:\Program Files\NVIDIA Corporation\Control Panel Client and clic on nvcplui.exe does that not open the control panel?

no that's not what happens. physx basically does nothing changes nothing and gains you nothing............ it might as well not exist

No, it doesnt

you still get a display right even with the drivers installed. it's not a complete fuck up between the two?. maybe try installing the drivers without geforce experience

the gtx 1060 was working fine, the two monitors on it where showing, then when i installed the drver for the quadro and restarted, both video cards had a yello triangle next to them in device manager, and both had an error code of 43. And the the only monitor that shows is the first monitor on the 1060. The second one that was working is now showing nothing and the monitor on the quadro is not showing anything. @SquintyG33Rs

so now you're basically stuck at minimum resolution right? as if no drivers were installed at all. have you tried uninstalling them to try again? because we all agree it should work. the driver conflict might come from how old the quadro is compared to the 1060. it also probably won't make anything go faster in your workloads. it might have higher precision built in and more stable drivers but that loses out to the insanely faster computation the newer card is capable of. most beginner professionals overestimate the worth of a quadro card (20k$ short of the best). and dealing with all this is probably not going to be worth your time.

That's SLI. It's one of the reasons I don't actually intend to do SLI, or if I do I don't plan to have it in SLI mode very often.

I don't know about the graphical benefits of the API, but if you play the right games you can actually benefit tangibly from a dedicated PhysX card. Borderlands 2, for instance, at least in my experience had relatively taxing fluid effects that made the game stutter with a single card (I can't remember if that was on a 780, 780 ti, or 980 ti), but ran perfectly fine with a PhysX card. Warframe also uses it, but I haven't noticed a big difference in performance, just that it uses my 780.

That's the 2 games where I use it.

borderlands stutters on 1 card? O_O i ran it on a 950..... which is much much slower than anything you've mentioned. and i've had no problems whatsoever

On max settings, with the Physx fluid physics. Might have just been the 'Pre-Sequel', not sure if they have the fluid effects in Borderlands 2.

Though to be entirely clear it was a small difference. It made the game smoother, but the stuttering was only minor.
