I am too scared of breaking something to build a pc myself what is the best prebuilt under 1000 for gaming and video editing?

If you don't want to build a machine from scratch, just buy a decent gaming rig and just upgrade certain parts gradually. If you are worried about ESD (Electro Static Discharge), it does not happen much and now most sensitive parts are ESD protected (Up to a certain point). If you want to be safe just touch a grounded piece of metal. don't be scared :)

So yes building a PC isn't hard but coming to a forum like this you were bound to get people saying just build a PC!  However buying a pre-built system has some pluses, one being a manufacture warranty or the convenience of repairs or returns in store depending on were you buy from.  Second is price.  There is almost this false narrative that pre-built systems always cost a premium, let's say $200-$300 more on average compared to a self built PC, but if you factor in that most manufactures offer significant discounts throughout the year, pre-built systems don't always carry a premium tag and could cost less in the end.  Also while PC builders have to deal with the influx of rising costs for GPU and RAM, a large pre built manufacture's costs are stable and are able to offer a PC without raising prices.   Reselling a user built PC isn't hard but I have found that this consumer base is a bit niche and a lot of times they just want to buy parts, this isn't to say that pre-built system hold more value but they are easier to unload all at once I have found.  Also if you are starting from scratch and on a budget some pre-built pcs come with peripherals, which most likely you will want to throw out, but hey they are free.

However there are some people who love assembling and building PCs and buying a pre-built is unthinkable and what I just said is a bunch of BS.
