You know what you should NOT do to diagnose a system error? Using diagnostic start in msconfig. Cause you know what'll happen? Oh, I tell you what'll happen - it makes it IMPOSSIBLE to get past the windows login screen cause it somehow blocks the dialog where you can enter your password or pin. You also CANNOT hold shift during restart to get the system repair dialog - it'll do nothing! You know when the first forum posts with that problem popped up? MID 2016!!! Bang on job on quality control there Microsoft!

So, since I actually managed to get my system running again without reinstalling windows I might as well share the solution: I just cut the power during boot which triggered the repair dialog from which I could get into safe mode and switch that shit back to standart.

Okay, I'm done venting, now - thanks for your attention!
