Unless you're pairing it with an Asus board, or don't have other RGB software installed, I would avoid it.

You can only use the first iteration of the RGB software for it that brings x99 support, the later .22 release is horribly broken.

I bought a 64GB (8x8) kit a year and a half ago for my x99 system, $289 from newegg. Today, the same kit, ~$750

Don't feel bad. X299 provides very few improvements over X99.

If you can find a G.Skill 4x8 3200 c14-14-14-34-2T kit, that would be optimal, but the kit you have selected is great too.

One of the easier ways to spot Samsung B-die ICs within these kits is to look for flat primaries within their rated timings.  For example, 14-14-14, 15-15-15, and 16-16-16 are all B-die sticks within the G.Skill Trident Z product line.   That's not to say that there aren't other kits with non-matching primaries aren't also Samsung B-die.  It's just a easier way to spot a few right off the bat.
