So about a month ago my new computer has been acting strange by shutting off randomly then it attempts to restart ,but it enters a boot loop that can be interrupted by switching the power supply off. There is completely no input to the screen as it is boot looping and the fans can be seen twitching as the power cycles on and off automatically. So today I decided to disassemble it and take the mobo and psu out.

I am trying to figure out which part is malfunctioning either the psu, mobo,or maybe cpu.

I don't have another computer to test the parts on so I am stuck

Observations.

  • After the random shutdown,it seems as though power cycles on and off during the boot loop as all the lights, fans turn on and off in sync.
  • a clicking sound can be heard during the boot loop that is in sync with the power turning on and off.
  • Stress testing does not make it shut down. I tried cinebench,AIDA64 and a few game benchmarks and it never usually turned off during stress tests.
  • Beep code about ram a while back so I decided to re-seat the ram and it worked.
  • No error beep codes occur

What i have tried

  • re-seat the ram and cpu
  • take out cmos battery for 10 min, put back
  • replace cmos battery
  • reset bios
  • ran with only 1 stick of ram, switched them, still happened with both.
  • switched my wireless card to a differant pci-e slot
  • re-seated gpu
  • switched beeper speaker, still silent.
  • freed the computer from dust with a co2 duster and a mirco fiber cloth, didn't do anything.

Anyone know what part it is? It's either the motherboard, psu, or maybe the cpu.

Nothing works, any help?:o

This sounds like it could be your power switch. Try unplugging it from the front panel connectors on the motherboard and use something like moving the reset switch over to the power port or using a screwdriver to bridge the connection.

Or it's grounding out to the case.

Plug everything back in, outside the case, and see what happens when you turn it on
