not necessarily. With the side panel off passive air flow across things like chipset, ram, and VRM's can be negatively affected. If you look at the open air benches that LTT uses several of them have flex mounts for 120 fans that can be aimed down on the mobo

Keeping a side off might reduce the pressure inside the case which in turn might reduce cooling, i know that keeping a side open might seem like it would help cooling, but from what i understand, it's better to keep it closed and have a neutral pressure inside the case (and have the fans directed in a specific way so that the air cools your components without having any hot spots inside the case)

Additionally, try to tidy up your wiring in order to improve air flow inside the case and improve cooling

depends on your fan setup, if you CAN close it and what cooler you are running on both the GPU and CPU.

i used to have a too big air tower to be able to get it on, but that helped with GPU temps seeing as it was a tripple fan, side exhaust card so it was dumping air into the room rather then the case and i was using a NH-D14 which was the reason i couldent get the sidepanel on so MOSFETs and so on were being cooled by that.

removeing the sidepanel will mess up the aiflow through the case, which if its shit dosent matter, but if its decent could hurt temperatures a bit. either way its not the end of the world and i doubt its going to be more then just a coupple degrees differnt

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Builds:

The Toaster Project! Northern Bee!

The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0)

These guys are crazy. Panel off is much cooler.

Except in the case were you see linus with a fan blowing on stuff. He uses that fan to mainly blow on RAID cards. Because RAID cards do not come with fans despite the manual specifically saying they need forced air cooling otherwise they woll overheat for sure. This is because servers have fans that blow directly at raid cards.

Assuming you have fans blowing where they should be. An open case would be cooler but pointless. If you want to access your stuff. Just buy a case with a swing door. I ran my computer for a year with the panek off because im lazy. Then i got a case with a swing door.
