Windows 10 Installation Error

You have a program or driver that blocks the Windows 10 installer.

  • Ensure you have the latest drivers before starting the process, for all your hardware
  • Uninstall any security software no part of Window, the one you use seem to cause problems, if hat is indeed the case

if that fails, then boot from the USB flash drive or disk where you have Windows 10, (pick "UEFI" version off the bootable device, if your system is modern, and/or UEFI ready, if you have the option),  and install Windows from there instead.

Thanks for the reply, GoodBytes.

when you say latest drivers, do you mean Nvidia drivers?

How do I uninstall Window security software?

Edit: I found how to uninstall Windows update. Will update after the process is done.

ALL drivers. I don't know your specs but you want to get the latest drivers for:

  • Printer
  • Keyboard/mouse (if you use/have these extra software, else nothing to do as you have the Windows default drivers and those are fine)
  • Graphics card (Nvidia, Intel, AMD)
  • Sound card/chip
  • Motherboard chipset
  • SATA/RAID controller (if you are using the extra one added by the motherboard manufacture)
  • USB controller (if you are using the ones added by your motherboard manufacture, if any)
  • etc.

Thanks for the suppose GoodBytes.

I updated the graphics card driver and motherboard chipset and do  not have any other items.

After removing the windows security updates, and restarting, the all updates came back. I have auto update disabled.

I also tried to install Windows 10 (downloaded from Microsoft) a usb flash drive. The registration key was okay, but in the middle of the installation. The following error (0x8007025d) message pops up:

I found the following steps from Microsoft in regards to my error message and will give it a try.

Problem now fixed.

I have 2 pcs here (a desktop was at Windows 7 & a Notebook was  on Windows 8.1).

The Notebook upgraded easily and was, more or less, back working immediately.

The other pc (Desktop) has been a nightmare on which I have made numerous attempts to get the upgrade to work:-

1) Took out the SSD main drive and replaced it with a standard Drive - no improvement.

2) Cut off all drives and CD ROMs other than the basic ones - no improvement.

3) Removed Norton - no improvement.

4) Ran all the various check disks programs I could find - no improvement.

5) Bear in mind that this PC was working happily in the W10 Insider Program for some months.

6) Updated SSD Drive to latest Magician standard - No improvement.

7) Finally, put the SSD drive back in and Did a complete reset to basics as described in W10 Recovery Options. This worked fine and I am now busily re-installing all my apps. _ Yippee!!!

Somewhere on my System there is some sort of App which was blocking Edge & Cortana, neither of which would load 'til now, nor could I get onto the web!!

As the hardware is unchanged from all the other attempts so I cannot blame that.

My advice, to anyone who has had a rough experience with the upgrade, would be to start by making sure you have backed up all your documents, etc., and then do the full reset from scratch !

It'll, probably, save you hours of wasted time!!

Good Luck!

No luck, still getting the following error:

Windows cannot install required files. Make sure files required for installation are available, and restart the installation. Error code 0x8007025D

I've restarted the installation multiple times.
