Question: Should I Upgrade to a Z270 motherboard from a Z170

Background:

I have an MSI Z170 Gaming M5 motherboard a few months back and it has been working fine. Then one day, whatever aspect of it that makes the audio work on the motherboard blew out. I can not say for certain the cause of it, but either way, all troubleshooting failed and it seems to be sourcing from the motherboard itself. I bought a sound card as a fix but now I am looking to replace it. The problem is, do I simply purchase a new Z170 motherboard, or do I spend a little more and upgrade to a Z270 motherboard?

Depends on what you want to do really, if you plan to upgrade to Coffee Lake then you need to use a Z370.
