Digitize My LPs!

Hi,

I want to digitize my old vinyl records.

But how should I do that? My old amplifier (Yamaha A960) has an 6.3 mm headphone jack and a feature to record your audio to an external cassette player.

 

If I should use the headphone jack, would it be possible to hook it directly in my microphone-in jack on my PC an record it via Audacity/GarageBand. Or do I need there some external converter to USB?

 

And the other feature, the one with the cassette recording, is that even relevant or should I just use the first option?

recording to cassette would be pointless now.

 

when I was recording I had my turntable plugged into my stereo receiver to use it's preamp and just used tape out into the computer's line in.

 

just get a 1/8" <> RCA cable and you should be good to go.

Well I just recorded it via the headphone out to line in to garageband, sounds nice

But I'll try the tape out with the next one
