found some sticks of ddr3in some old system someone gave me, it is a lower speed from the other memory in my secondary system but I'm not sure the exact frequency. The question is, can I stick this ram in there with the existing ram to add more memory if it does not match and see benefit from additional memory?

Broke 14 Year old + No job + Love for Technology = Bad combo :(

Considering the memory in both systems are both DDR3, yes, you can comingle them.  You should see an increase in the total amount of memory, but total memory will only run at the slowest speed..  So if system one is running at 2166 and system two memory is running at 1380, then when put together the total system speed will be no faster than 1380.
