SSD + Ryzen Problem, or just failing SSD?

I built my current Ryzen system in June and simply moved my current SSD from my old system into this new one. Windows 10 detected the new hardware, as expected, and everything has worked just fine ever since. Well, until I paid some closer attention to the performance of my SSD. I bought it used for $60 last year with only seven terabytes written (I believe they're rated for 150 TBW). I noticed last night my IOPS were about half what they used to be. I'm pretty sure I checked when I built my Ryzen system and it was performing as expected, but I'm not entirely sure. I've made sure to be running the latest AM4 B350 chipset drivers and updated the drive's firmware, but I'm not really sure what else could be causing this. I wonder if any other Ryzen owner have this problem, or if my SSD is beginning to fail? I don't notice any problems during normal use.

 

I know I have the option of doing a clean install, but I'm trying to avoid that.

Try switching sata ports. Other than that, I'm not really too sure.

 

You could try looking in the smart counters in samsung magician to make sure the ssd is in good health.

I'll try switching sata ports in a few minutes to see if that changes anything. The "Airflow Temperature" seems a bit odd, not really sure how it interprets the temperature from those numbers, but it's current sitting at 33c. Perhaps that Current Value is the distance from 100.

No luck. Tried three different sata cables each in a different port. Same low IOPS. Maybe I'll throw this thing into my laptop and splurge on a 960 Evo or something.

Yeah that's weird. And the SMART counter stuff all looks ok.

 

You could try updating the firmware, and maybe using a tool to check TRIM is working (if for some ridiculous reason it wasn't). Though TRIM wouldn't explain the low read results.
