Hey guys and galls ,

i've just orderd a 8700K here in belgium , and i'm reading mixed reports where overclocking is concerned, some say it OC's like a champ , some like a chump ...
what do you think is reasonable to expect with a h100i ( the OG H100i ), both temps and clocks wise  ? i also ordered the z370 gaming pro carbon from msi.

Cheers !

OCs like a chump before replacing the dirty toothpaste under the lid, but goes like hell after that.

I have the same motherboard but the 8600K, I overclocked mine to 5 GHz at 1.290v. Temperatures are in between 70-75 when gaming with the h100i v2. At the end doesn't really matter what people say. If you get a good chip it'll OC fine.

Well you are kinda lucky to get 5GHz at 1,29V.

From what I have seen average 8600k will clock to 5GHz with 1,325 - 1,35V.

75°C during gaming isn't that great to be honest ... I wonder what temps you get during aida64 cpu+fpu+cache test. Prime95 with AVX will surelly destroy your CPU temps, but AIDA64 might be worth for testing.

If you have any infos, how hot does your 8600k run with aida64, please let me know ... I'm seriouslly concidering buying 8600k for myself, but I'm concerned about temps.

Actually i did the tests again and while gaming it stays around 65-70, that's playing BF1 which is cpu intensive AF. During aida64 and prime 95 it can get as hot as 90-95 (1.325v). With 1.29v aida64 and prime the peek temperature was about  85. But you also have to consider that while testing if OC was stable my room got very hot. I plan to delid the chip but not to push the oc, just to drop the temps. For the voltage i think i won the lottery. I still have to try to go lower than 1.29 but i don't have much time.

I'm thinking about buying pre-delided and tested 8600k CPU for 370€ vs 270€ stock price.

I'm just not sure yet if I should pay those extra 100€ to get it delided ...

In my opinion if you have to pay 370 then get the 8700K. Doesn't make sense to me to pay 100€ just to have the chip delidded and tested. Yes you'll be sure you have a nice cpu and temps. If that's worth the 100€ for you go for it but even if you buy a stock one and it gets to only let's say 4.8 or 4.9 the difference in performance is going to be almost none. You can always delid by yourself for half the price if you feel comfortable doing it.

Delidded and lapped with h100i v2 extreme, I'm at 5.2Ghz, 4.8Ghz cache, AVX -2, with 3600 c16 RAM, and using 1.385V with my 8700k.  Temps stay well below 50 C while gaming, but reached a max of 67 C (aboult 56 C avg.) while stress testing.

4.8GHz min. / 5.4GHz max.

depends on many factors, but biggest is luck.

My 8700k does 5GHz @1.25v, delidded today, he also did it without delidding but i have a better cooler than you though..

sounds reasonable to me.
