So I already have a pretty bangin' desktop but I was wondering if getting a laptop to go along side it would be worth it. It'd need to have some gaming performance so probably a 1050ti or better but I'd also like it to be super portable and quiet (I had a laptop ~5 years ago that roasted my lap and sounded like a hairdryer). There are times when I'm traveling or just don't have access to my desktop and I feel like I need a laptop in those moments but once I get back to my desktop I don't feel the need anymore obviously. There are a lot of times where I would just want something portable like maybe sitting in my living room doing work instead of being tethered to my desk all the time. Anybody who uses a desktop and laptop interchangeably? Why? What for? Is it worth it? Any laptop recommendations would be great as well. A touchscreen would be great since I hate track pads and I don't want to carry a mouse around unless I intend to play some games. My theoretical budget is around £800 but over or under is fine as long as it's a great deal, I just don't want to spend too much as it won't be my main system. Thanks for any help!

I use a laptop as my daily driver, mostly because my desktop is super slow lol. Although back when I did use my desktop, I used them both interchangeably since my desktop was literally in a closet so I could have internet(back when I didn't have a wireless adapter)

If you have a good desktop, you'll probably not need a powerful laptop. I bought a laptop alongside my PC and only played on it 3 times, I bought it 3 years ago.

From personal experience, I say get a Chromebook or a light laptop with a max 1440p screen(Going for a lower resolution will be better when you're travelling as battery life will be longer), SSD and new(ish) CPU.  It really isn't worth it to buy an expensive and powerful laptop when you have a good PC.

Yeah my thoughts exactly but I'd still like a dedicated GPU just in case I want to game away from my desk or whatever. Chromebooks don't really hold my fancy since they have basically no storage and can't even run Microsoft Word as an actual program.

Well, I guess it would make sense to get a Notebook.
