Testbench?

Basically, my RAM and Case only arrive in 2 days, and I've got the rest of my build.

 

One of the retailers has a policy where if you don't report an item damaged on arrival within 2 days, they won't pay the shipping back, hence, I want to test my build even fi I can't build it today.

 

Can I just put the pieces of my motherboard box and quickly plug them into the PSU to test? Can I leave all the plastic labels and covers on or do these conduct electricity or something? Worried about damaging in the process of doing this.

 

Using an asus 1080ti, asus maximus x hero, 8700k, hx750i, kraken x62, 850 evo m.2.

Yeah you can just put the mobo on the mobo box. You shouldn't need to peel the plastic off.

Can I run it without the cooler, just to test? It would be a bitch to take that cooler off and on.

was about to say the same. cases are totally overrated :D 

 

you can even use it like this until your case shows up, but make sure to keep pets and small children away from it

K chips don't come with a stock cooler.

I don't have thermal paste. I'd need to reapply it , surely I can juts run it without the cooler for a split second?

You say you don't have your RAM yet, so the system won't do anything.
