Custom Graphics Card Backplate

So I thought I'd show you guys this wicked cool backplate I found and bought! This is by no means is a paid advertisement of any sort and I am fully aware that a backplate does not help increase GPU performance of any sort. I just was looking to match the astheic of my build which is clearly a white theme, for my 'Big White' build.

 

I had just bought the Asus GTX 1060 Dual series 6GB on a great one day sale. I like that it was the cheapest full-size GTX 1060 6GB available and that it has a white shroud of course. The only downer was the exposed PCB on the back that did not look very aesthetically pleasing in my system, so, I immediately hit up the Google to find a company that makes custom backplates. I stumbled upon V1 Tech and was pleasantly surprised with a number of their products and the ease of install. I ended up buying this backplate, and for another build of mine an SSD cover, and cable combs.

V1 Tech has tons of options for backplate color, design, and even gets it down to your exact graphics card model. I went with the Asus ROG logo in matte black, and the rest of the backplate in gloss white.

 

So as you can see the Asus GTX 1060 Dual series was cramping my PC Master Race style.

 

And hopefully, V1 Tech's backplate would help bring some style back.

 

 

Step 1, is super easy, the backplate is held only by magnets meaning there is no need to unscrew your graphics card at all (no voiding of warranty), and the whole process takes 5 minutes. 

So with the graphics card laying down take the include magnets and sit them overtop the screws around the edge of your card like so:

 

 

Step 2, without removing the adhesive backing to the magnets dry fit the backplate over them and make sure you know how you want the backplate to sit. Once you know how you will do that process you simply remove the adhesive backing and stick backplate on top. Once removed the magnets stick to the backplate allowing you to remove the backplate whenever you want to. If you made no mistakes it will sit perfectly on top of your card. (The adhesive on the magnets is super strong so make sure you don't make a mistake)

 

 

Step 4, if you made no mistakes the back plate should look like this (for my model of graphics card) and you are now ready to peel off the cover and place the backplate on the card for an awesome aesthetic!

I think this backplate ads a lot of glam to the build and makes it look like a more complete system overall. The magnets are quite strong and hold up the backplate with no problems, and I am very satisfied with the turnout!

First off: accidents happen. Will this backplate remain fixed when dropped from a small height?

 

Second: what material is used to create that backplate. If it's something conductive, I would throw it away instantly due to accident risk + way bigger problems after that.

 

Thirdly: how long do you intend to use this system. In my personal experiance, glue will degrade over time, making your magnets no longer stuck to the backplate itself.

1: it would just fall of but then can easily be put back on, I have never dropped a computer before so unless you are Linus not a big concern haha. 

 

2: They use high-quality acrylic, and 100% guarantee it as safe. I see no cause for concern.

 

3: A while, and I have had that issue in the past before as well. But this 3M adhesive is significantly better than any other stick on LED strips or accessories I have used in the past so I am not worried for the time being.

Hi, 

We made one as well with PVC boards, but its no where as cool as the one you made with acrylic. Will give it a go next time, may be with some RGB?
