System Build Help

Go to solution Solved by TheRandomness,

A few things:
1) Please press the 'BB' button and then copy that box over to here to have it format properly.
2) You cannot overclock that CPU, you have to have a 'k' series CPU to overclock it. If you don't want to overclock, downgrade to a B250 motherboard and get a cheaper cooler.
3) 8GB is still a fine amount for RAM if you're just a gamer.
4) You should have some form of long term storage, such as a 1TB HDD just in case.
5) If you choose to do the thing I said in the latter part of step 2, then you could try get a 1070 instead.
6) You could easily save money on the PSU and get something cheaper, use the PSU tier list linked in my signature to find a good model for as cheap as possible.

Hey guys,

So I'm relatively new to system building and was wondering if anyone would be able to have a look at this build I created. It's currently at $1868.99 and I'd like to keep it at this price or less. If anyone would be able to suggest any changes to improve it or do the same job but cheaper that would be greatly appreciated. (From Australia, btw).

Thanks,

Luke

That is a locked CPU.

You're overspending on Mobo and CPU at the cost of a good GPU which matters most for gaming, Kingston makes crappy SSDs, Intel handles memory so well even a decent 2666mhz cheaper stick could run at 3200mhz and finally you should instead go i5 8600k route, if that does not stop you from getting at least the GTX 1070.

Get a 7700K instead of a normal 7700. Other than that I'm not seeing that many problems, depending on what you're using the PC for

you should really go coffee Lake at this point, and I feel like a build of that quality deserves a more powerful GPU (or a cheaper CPU).  Also, do you really need an optical drive?

Solve your own audio issues  |  First Steps with RPi 3  |  Humidity & Condensation  |  Sleep & Hibernation  |  Overclocking RAM  |  Making Backups  |  Displays  |  4K / 8K / 16K / etc.  |  Do I need 80+ Platinum?

If you can read this you're using the wrong theme.  You can change it at the bottom.
