Hello,

I have started my second gaming build  I have a question regarding my new build. My CPU light stays red when I turn my system on and I don't have a display.  I have tried various troubleshooting problems. removing RAM, checking all the cables, VCARD etc etc. I have also tried using another VCARD AMD RADON R9 from an older build. It's just really annoying me because I had it on my old system and managed to fix it but in this one, I can't fix at all.

Specs

CASE: CORSAIR R270 MID TOWER

1x ASUS MAXIMUS VIII HERO MOTHERBOARD

1x i7 7700k 4.2ghz

1x CORSAIR H100i V2 LIQUID COOLER

4x 16GB CORSAIR VENGENCE DDR4 RAM

1x ASUS STRIX NVIDIA GTX 970 GPU (SOON MSI 1070 SLI)

2 x WD BLUE 1TB HARD DRIVE

1x SANDISK 150GB SSD

1x CORSAIR 850x POWER SUPPLY

7x CORSAIR RED LED QUIET EDITION AF120

Could someone help me with the problem

Thank you

while checking the cables, have you replug your motherboard cable?

"Make it future proof for some years at least, don't buy "only slightly better" stuff that gets outdated 1 year, that's throwing money away" @pipoawas

-Frequencies DON'T represent everything and in many cases that is true (referring to Individual CPU Clocks).

Mention me if you want to summon me sooner or later

I stripped everything down and re wired and plugged everything back in.Y

the CPU light is still red I also checked to see if any of the pins on the Motherboard were out of alignment everything seems fine

Personally I like Maximus ix code more, just because it looks cooler in my opinion xD

Atleast 256gb ssd, 150gb gets filled up WAY too quickly.

Thought you couldnt sli 2 different gpus if they are Nivida? thought it was only AMD that allowed it? But I could be wrong :)

Otherwise it seems gud :)

I'm using the 970 for now Until my 1070s arrive

I am afraid maybe there is a broken pin in your motherboard

Do you have an updated bios on the motherboard?

The mobo needs an updated Kaby Lake bios to work with your CPU. Without one it won't work, and it sounds like this could be your issue.

Make sure to quote me or tag me when responding to me, or I might not know you replied! Examples:

How would I update the Kaby Lake Bios because I can't see anything on the display?

Check your manual, I believe your board has a feature that lets you update the bios even without a cpu

Did you insert a USB with the BIOS update that establishes support for 7th gen?

The CPU less update process that DocSwag referred you too is a quite specific process and you wont see anythibg on screen untill it is done and you then reinsert the cpu as far as I know.

(ASUS is not my favorite brand but that feature is amazing)

Yeah that's what I'm saying, you need to update your mobo bios so it supports 7th gen.

Your board supports bios flashback without entering the bios. Just go to page 2-12 of your manual and it has instructions on how to update your bios without even entering the bios.
