Hey guys, today I went to a thrift store and found a x9sra0 supermicro motherboard factory sealed for a dollar. That's not the point though.

I need a good xeon CPU for it. I'm looking at the e5 2660 v2 ATM. It supports xeon 1500 and 2600 v1 and v2 CPUs and is an LGA 2011 socket. Any recommendations?

get a cheap e5-2670v1 and a bunch of cheap used ecc ddr3 and you're set

you can pick up 16-24gb of used ecc ddr3 for around $35 and the xeon will run you $50-100

I'll look into it

The best bang for buck CPU I've found is the e5 2687w v2. It's 200 for one on eBay and beats out the 6700k in terms of gaming recommendations and nearly does for 7700k according to game debate.
