Hey guys, right now this is my build https://pcpartpicker.com/list/zJDmbj. And for some reason it keeps on crashing. It started when I got a new msi gtx1080 then I returned that and got another asus 1080. Not crashing as much for Rocket League now but more for other games like Wareframe and CSGO. I don't believe anything is overheating and my drivers are updated. I check both my rams sticks and thought the one was bad but it just crashed again in CSGO. So not my RAM or GPU. I ran Userbenchmark CPU test and it didn't crash. So I have no idea what it could be or if I'm missing something.

what kind of crashing? just shuts down, BSoDs, only games crash?

So far it just crashes in games. My PC shuts gown then reboots with no error message. I checked my EVent Viewer but it just says Kernal Power when it crashes.

sounds like it might be an issue with the PSU if it's only happening in games, since it needs to pump more power to the GPU as well. 600w should still have plenty of overhead but your particular unit might be defective, i would suggest returning that and trying a different one

That makes sense because less ram and my old gtx 1060 did fine. Could it be anything else???

Let's start with basic stuff, Does your system overheat? IF yes, this may be it. Try to run it with only one stick of RAM then the other one. Is the GPU OC'ed? If yes, try to play at stock. Also check if your PC has malware Just in Case.

Wow, My thread hasn't gotten attention but yours has... Anyways, here to help others!

My system does not overheat. I did run with only one stick of RAM and they both crashed. GPU is not OC. And Im running a scan on Norton now.

Hmm. Am searching my profile contents because I had a similar problem with another guy. If I remember he used a Ryzen 7 I think. When he played games the system rebooted strangely. Long story short I told him to Overvolt the CPU which fixed the problem. I will link the thread when I edit.

What does overvolting do like in general and to the CPU.

nothing assuming you dont go too high, ryzen stock voltage is 1.25v so going to 1.28v would be fine but you shouldnt have to do that to fix your computer, id place a claim with the power supply manufacture if there is warranty or id try a new power supply and see if that fixes the problem, if that doesnt fix it then warranty claim the motherboard and if that still doesnt fix it warranty claim the processor

It gives more volts to your processor. But take in mind that overvolting is not like this: 1.20v to 2.20v. That would kill the cpu instantly. IS more like this: 1.20v to 1.25v. Slowly giving more and more. I suggest to not do it up like example: 1:20v to 1.70 max. Show us your voltage of CPU and we can give you good voltage.

Totally agree. Bad thing this fixes it.

well if you need to over volt a processor to run at stock speeds there is a defect in either the power supply, motherboard or CPU, nothing wrong with overvolting outside of using more electricity but you should only overvolt if you are overclocking, if you are not then you need to fix the underlying issue
