Looking for recommendations on upgrading my system, which I mostly use for gaming.

Wanting to get a new graphics card but worried about compatibility issues since most of my build is 8+years old, and I'm also unsure whether solely upgrading the GPU will cause bottlenecking in other areas.

Ideally would spend about £250 on the graphics card (maybe a GTX 1060 6gb?), although if I need to upgrade mobo/cpu in order to upgrade the GPU I'd like to keep total costs under £500.

Thanks!

Current build:

Mobo: Asus P8Z68-V Gen3

CPU:   i7 2600k @ 3.4 ghz

GPU: AMD Radeon HD 6900

Ram:  2x 4gb Corsair DDR3

PSU: Corsair TX750

I think that for now the CPU is fine and you can still overclock it and get increased performance. The motherboard is also not limiting performance either.

IMO a graphics card upgrade will be the biggest performance boost. Also maybe an SSD if you don't already have one?

2600k can use a 1070 or even a 1080 if you want. Make sure you use a good cooler for overclocking the CPU though.
