GPU Recommendation for PUBG?

SenorKiwi

Hey,

I am looking for a GPU for playing PUBG, at 1440p preferably and 144hz

budget about $400

Wondering what the best to get would be. Thanks :)

Also about timing of getting it to - if I should wait for new releases causing prices to come down etc :) maybe waiting for 1070 ti or something

Enjoy your weekend!

Oli

1440p and 144hz will be almost neccessary 1080, tho a 1070 would be enough for normal use

Case: Corsair Graphite 760T || PSU: Corsair RM650i || Mobo: Asus RoG Strix Z270E || CPU: Intel i5-7600K @4.8GHz || Cooler: Corsair H110i v2 || RAM: Corsair Vengeance DDR4 3200MHz 16GB White LED || GPU: MSI GTX 1070 8GB GAMING X || SSD: Samsung 850 Evo 250GB, Samsung 860 Evo 500GB, Samsung MZ1280 M.2 128GB || HDD: Seagate Barracuda 1TB

144 hz with g-syc or without? with g-sync you may be able to use a 1070, but I would recommend a 1080 or better, it depends on your budget ofcourse

The expensive kind with a "ti" behind the numbers lel, you´re asking alot from your pc with 1440p 144hz

Case: Corsair Graphite 760T || PSU: Corsair RM650i || Mobo: Asus RoG Strix Z270E || CPU: Intel i5-7600K @4.8GHz || Cooler: Corsair H110i v2 || RAM: Corsair Vengeance DDR4 3200MHz 16GB White LED || GPU: MSI GTX 1070 8GB GAMING X || SSD: Samsung 850 Evo 250GB, Samsung 860 Evo 500GB, Samsung MZ1280 M.2 128GB || HDD: Seagate Barracuda 1TB

hmmm well yeah I wouldn't need insane graphics. Medium is good enough for me, as long as the FPS is strong that's all good.

Going to only be playing 5 hours a week I hope. Want to focus on my business but then have fun at the weekend a bit.

Oh. Well, I can tell you right now, I go high settings in PUBG, 70-80fps nonstop with a gtx 970, so you don´t really need 1080 in that case.

A 1080ti would be ideal if you want 144fps consistently, I only get around 70-80 with my 1070 at med 1440p (Should be a bit better optimised closer to launch though).

Please quote our replys so we get a notification and can reply easily. Never cheap out on a PSU, or I will come to watch the fireworks.

I mean that'd be cool but for 5 hours a week probs not worth it, so yea maybe I'll go 1070 or something as I previously owned (sold it after left gaming for a while)

I had a EVGA GTX 1070 SC - what do you think of that?

Also in terms of pricing maybe I should wait until the 1070 ti releases?

Alright thanks for the benchmark - yea I'll think about it but that sounds good enough for me probably, 80fps feels pretty smooth but yea 144 is obviously boss like

Yes pubg. Isn't good with one or two cards. Can get by turning the graphics down. Really depends on the server. Some days it runs some days not so much.

Turn details down to Low, with Textures at High/Ultra for fastest results. a GTX970/RX480/RX580/GTX1060 would do you fine if using those details for up to 100fps (give or take 15fps actively playing with movements), a GTX1070 for higher, paired with a good CPU driving it to get your 144fps+ constant

PubG settings (some even to just medium) will cripple your smooth framerates with only a couple of changes to a few settings... not always, but especially the distracting 'dips' it can create, so for competitive titles like this, until optimization occurs you ideally would lower some details. Requirements for PubG Low details+High Textures isn't that bad at all at 1080p, 1440p isn't really either if your midrange or higher.

Maximums - Asus Z97-K /w i5 4690 Bclk @106.9Mhz * x39 = 4.17Ghz, 8GB of 2600Mhz DDR3,.. Gigabyte GTX970 G1-Gaming @ 1550Mhz

alright well ye my cpu is i7 3770k so should be fine for it

but yea I think a 1070 would be good to go with, don't need epic settings as long as it looks nice!

FPS is the main thing and a visually appealing game, since I have an IPS, 1440p, 144hz, gsync monitor, it's pretty beast but need a new GPU has currently have a 650 loolll

Not trying to be too pessimistic but I sincerely doubt there will be much optimizing going on, we have seen quite a few cases where these "success" games from smaller studios delivers far more promises than actual results.

I suppose that the GTX 1070/ GTX 980 Ti would be the bare minimum if sacrificing quality is no issues to achieve the higher frame rate but as every one has been saying I would get the GTX 1080 just because it is good having a very capable GPU, considering other games eye candy and longevity to expect from the card...

I've been using Reshade (Sharpening additions) and it really makes it better (1fps cost) compares to using supersampling/higher resolutions for clarity/removing the blur.

So I kept textures at their highest (or High if I encounter stutter on the particular server) and set the rest to low, View range to High, Motion blur off.

Runs pretty damn fast. (GTX970-OC) 90-140fps at 1080p, GTX1060/1070 will be higher, giving you the headroom for 1440p (close to 100fps+)

Maximums - Asus Z97-K /w i5 4690 Bclk @106.9Mhz * x39 = 4.17Ghz, 8GB of 2600Mhz DDR3,.. Gigabyte GTX970 G1-Gaming @ 1550Mhz

yeah seems like 1070 or 1080 is the best option rn - in terms of pricing do you think 1080 price will be changing anytime soon to wait for or not?

Hunting bargain (not used, but new) sites or deals would be best as companies would still want you to buy their card over others..
Hard hunting if you want it now..
I don't see it getting better, follow the mining prices once a month but who knows when pricing changes to suit...
