upgrading my gaming pc

BisquTz

Hi guys,

I am looking to upgrade my gaming pc as I am no longer able to run these newer games.

I currently have:

Athlon II X4 760K

MSI A78-E35

Radeon R7 260

8GB crucial ballistix

1TB western digital black

430W Corsair CX430

I was wanting to be able to run the newer games like PUBG (cant even think of running atm :) ) and dishonoured 2 (can currently run, just at potato quality) and hopefully any other games coming out soon, would love some suggestions although I want cheaper parts that can still get a good job done,

Thanks

Skylake pentium with a 1050ti is suppose to get pretty decent frame rates in pubg (avg like 50 or something)

Current: R2600X@4.0GHz\\ Corsair Air 280x \\ RTX 2070 \\ 16GB DDR3 2666 \\ 1KW EVGA Supernova\\ Asus B450 TUF

Budget? G4560 or an R3 1200 would be good, paired with a 1050ti or a 1060 and 8GB of DDR4. For the Ryzen system, I'd suggest higher frequency memory like 2666 or above.

Second PC: i5 3340s @ 2.8GHz | 8GB Corsair Vengeance @ 1333MHz | EVGA 750Ti SC | Cheap £7 250GB WD HDD Windows 7

Go with Kabylake pentium, the skylake ones dont have hyperthreading.

the skylake Pentium g4400 reduces the performance of a RX460 (a weaker gpu than the 1050ti)*
anything new that's cheap with 4 threads is good

Any of these suggestions that people have given will require you to get a new motherboard and RAM.

I will reiterate that the Pentium G4560 is a solid CPU for budget gaming.

DDR3 RAM finished with 4th gen intel cpu's

current 8th gen are showing a good time for 4th gen intel cpu owners to upgrade

if youre lucky you can find someone selling their 4th gen system and you can pick it up for cheap

otherwise youll need to purchase new components

under the subforum "new builds and planning"...

1. Budget & Location

You may have listed a heap of parts that all add up to your preferred budget but it is easier if you just list the total amount you'd like to spend and the currency as well as if you'd consider going above that budget for more performance. We need the location as well because $US are different to $AUD and $CAD ect.

2. Aim

What is the system going to be used for? Web browsing, 3D work? Different systems need different levels of performance - a computer based for web browsing and office use won't handle heavy graphic design and video editing and a proper video editing system isn't good for gaming. If your aim is for gaming, please list what sort of gaming. In the same way that different usage types need different systems, you'll need a lot more power to run Far Cry 3 or Crysis 2 than you would Minecraft.

3. Monitors

How many monitors do you plan on running? Do you plan on moving to more monitors in the future? What resolution are they at too?

4. Peripherals

Do you also need to purchase peripherals such as keyboards and mice as well as monitors ect. Also please tell us if you'll need an OS such as Windows.

5. Why are you upgrading?

We ask this because you may see upgrading as the only path to solve an issue but things such as driver updates, reconfiguration or cleaning can boost performance without spending a cent.

Please copy and paste the major dot points into your thread as it makes it easier for us to give you better feedback.

I am from the UK and my budget for both is around £400 (around $530), if am looking at replacing pretty much everything then I will probably wait a few months and get a completely new and better rig altogether

They're a lot faster than an hdd, so stuff like boot up times and app launch times will be many many times faster. As well, you don't get that hdd thing where when you boot up your pc it seems to be sluggish for 3-4 minutes. However, SSDs are way lower capacity.

I suggest you get a small ssd like the one I linked, and use it to store your OS, a few commonly used apps (web browser, Microsoft office if you have it, etc.) and maybe a game or two, and use your hdd for large files.
