So i bit ago i made a post that i got a laptop board  with power issues, i fixed it i think, it boots up with the battery, but since i don't have the original PSU i can't test that, so i was wondering if i can use any other one?

Laptop in question is a Lenovo Y580 (i5-3320M, 2GB ram and GTX 660M), original power supply is 120W 6.5A 19V. Which here is important if i just want to test it w/o stressing it aka using all that 120W? is the amperage or voltage more important? Or will it not even show if it's recognised if the specs of it aren't the same or higher? (atm got a 90W universal psu, 90W, can go 19V but only 4.5A or 7.5A on 12V, can do 6A on 13V).

EDIT: to clarify, i'll still have the battery in, i just wanna see if it'll charge it or not w/o stressing the PC overall.

You need a 19v power supply with the same power connector. Any reasonable amperage will charge it, but if you dont get one that is high enough then you might lose power faster than you can charge while under load.

The important part is it has the same connector and is 19V. 4.5A will charge it at idle, but you might find that the battery loses charge while gaming since it is using the power faster than it can take it from the power supply.

So i put the psu to 19-20V which has 4,5A but nothing, while in windows it didn't even show that it was charging or that a charger was connected, the light on the psu was blinking tho as if it was doing something. Atm i have it powered off connected both battery and charger, to see if it charges the battery at all.

But i disconnected the battery before and only had the psu connected and checked around with the voltmeter to see if there was any current and there was on some parts so if it doesn't charge it another part must be broken, either a mosfet or a transistor.
