Start up problems

Hey guys needing some ideas to troubleshoot and I'm fresh out. I'm running an Asus Hero XI Z270 mobo with a I7-6700k, Samsung 960 EVO M.2 and 32 gb DDR4, Asus GTX 1070. 

Here's my problem: When I first built this machine it booted in 12-15 seconds from on to the desktop. Within the last month when I restart it takes about 3-4 minutes to get into UEFI at which point I have to override boot into Windows 10 Pro. Then it takes another 4-5 minutes to get to my desktop. As far as I'm aware I haven't changed any settings In bios or when I do I make note of them and change them back. 

I'm at a loss, I've checked on multiple websites and forums with no luck. I have a feeling it has something to do with the bios or the M.2 but can't figure out what. Any help would be appreciated.

When it goes through the sequence of post lights on your hero board is it getting stuck at a particular one?

 

Have you tried to boot the system with the m.2 drive removed if you think that's the issue?

 

Fwiw the latest two bios versions for my board have some weird anomalies. It's a similar Asus board so I don't know how different their bios revs are.

I've seen this type of thing happen when certain USB external hard drives are plugged in. I'm not terribly sure why, have you added any external peripherals recently that it might be trying to take a look at when it should be booting instead?

I'll give these a try and see what happens. I thought I had unplugged everything but I'll do everything except the keyboard and see what happens. I'l let y'all know what happens
