Completely new to the world of PC building and looking for a push in the right direction towards a build that would be primarily focused on both CAD work, 3D modeling, and heavy rendering.
As stated I have a budget of $3,000 (not including peripherals/accessories etc) and I have no real preference yet over certain brands of cpus; like I said I'm very new to this.

Gaming isn't a big focus with this build, as anything I'd be doing in that field would be extremely light.
Any input or nudges towards what I should be looking for in my build would be much appreciated. I'm located here in Southern California and only need to include the computer itself in the budget.
Thanks!

What software is used? Do you use gpu or cpu rendering, or both?

80+ ratings certify electrical efficiency. Not quality.

Something along these lines?

As @brob said, cpu or GPU rendering.

I made this broad, so if you do both cpu and gpu this should be pretty good.

EDIT!!!

This case allows for the HDD'S to be in raid.

And updated them from 4, 1tb hdd's to 3 3tb hdd's.(raid 5 these)

Going to be using both for quick check renders in Maya and 3ds, as well as heftier renders for finals. I've had people recommend I put money towards both cpu and gpu but again I'm pretty new at system building so any advice is good advice!

Thank you for the update and input. The more advice I get, the more people lean away from intel for a workstation kind of build. What's the reason behind it?

I appreciate the list and update by the way, it's really helping me move in the right direction!
