Slow hdd problems

SammyGoad

I recently adopted an Imac with a 7200 rpm harddrive, I dont really want to open it up since I plan on using it as my test bench for MacOs programs but I hear they can get kind of slow. I have a few ideas and I want  to hear your response.

1.short stroking hdd

2.external hard drive over usb 2.0/ Firewiree 800

3. mini raid array with laptop hdds

What do you guys think? will any of them be faster than a 7200rpm harddrives.

none of them are worth the trouble.

if you really want to speed up the system, just get an SSD and put it in. you can open it up and replace the HDD without ruining it.

I know, that requires me to buy more stuff and I was looking for a solution that would let me speed up development on a very some proportion of my market.
