Do I need an upgrade?

Hi, I've been running with a FX-8120 3.1Ghz 8-core for a long time, and now I have a suspicion that it might be bottle-necking my PC. Is my CPU really worth upgrading, and is there anything else that stands out in my build.

Yes.  If you have the $$$ a Ryzen 1600 would improve the performance of your system in every way.  Honestly a 1200 with an overclock would too if you want to save some money.  If primarily game consider the equivalently priced Intel options.

Depending on the gaming your cpu will bottleneck your gpu to some degree. I would definitely consider upgrading your gpu at some point.
